Our student-led advisory Board of Directors helps shape our policy and scope of service. Representing undergraduate, graduate, and law school students, they offer valuable insights to the legal concerns facing the student community, and assist us in developing educational programming and in identifying any gaps in our service areas.
Membership on the Student Legal Service Board of Directors is a valuable leadership opportunity for students interested in outreach, marketing, and management experience. Students interested in becoming members of the Board do not need to be interested in law.
Each year, our Board collaborates with office staff in planning our educational programming, including our annual Careers in Law Fair. They promote our services and connect with students at tabling events, such as new student orientation, resource fairs, and Coffee and Donuts.
There are two commitees that general Board members can join: Management Commitee and Education and Outreach (E&O) Commitee.
The Management Committee focuses on the internal management of the Board of Directors. This includes reviewing and, if necessary, making changes to the Board of Directors by-laws, Constitution, general functions, finances, and other working documents.
Education and Outreach (E&O)
The Education and Outreach committee plans events and programming in coordination the with the SLS office. These events include Coffee and Donuts, Careers in Law Fair, and more. They also focus on advertisement of Board opportunities, such as applications.
Officers of the Board
Executive members consist of the Chair, Vice Chair, Management Chair, Education and Outreach Chair, Secretary, Minnesota Student Association Representative, and Treasurer, which are elected positions of Student Legal Service.
