Communication is at the heart of every society. Every family, community, business, and organization relies on communication. And in today’s increasingly diverse and mobile societies, communicating effectively in second languages is more important than ever.
Established in 1968 as the ESL program, the Program in Second Language Studies works to fill this important need by teaching our students to be effective and flexible instructors of English as a second language, as well as other languages. By integrating coursework, theory, research, and hands-on teaching experience, we prepare our students for successful careers in education and industry.
With your support, the Program in Second Language Studies will remain a valuable resource at the University of Minnesota. Your tax-deductible donation will support our students and faculty, not to mention our important outreach efforts in the community.
