Eligibility

Our intake staff will help students verify their eligibility. To be eligible for our services, students must be currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities Campus, must have paid the Student Services Fee, and have a legal matter eligible for SLS services as described on the Advice and Representation page or in our Policy Handbook.

 

Scheduling an Appointment

There are several ways to schedule an appointment. You can email your name, student ID number, and a brief description of your issue or concern to [email protected],  call our office at (612) 624-1001, or stop in during our office hours. Our intake staff will verify that you are eligible for services and ask follow up questions as needed. 

What to Expect

Prior to your appointment, you will be asked to fill out our New Client Intake Paperwork. Our intake coordinator will have you fill this out in advance and email it to [email protected] before your appointment. Appointment lengths can vary, but you’ll typically meet with either an attorney or a legal staff member for 30 minutes to an hour. The majority of appointments are held remotely via Zoom, but you can request an in-person appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your requests.

Office Hours

The SLS office is open to the public Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 3:30pm, and Fridays, from 9:00am to 2:00pm, except on University holidays. Our intake hours typically fall between 9:00am and 3:30pm.
