Eligibility

In order to use our services, a student must be enrolled at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus, pay the Student Services Fee, and have a legal matter eligible for SLS services as described on the Advice and Representation page or in our Policy Handbook.

Scheduling an Appointment

SLS operates on an appointment basis and does not have drop-in hours. If you’d like to begin the process for scheduling an appointment, email your name, student ID number, and a brief description of your issue or conern to [email protected] or call our office at (612) 624-1001. Our intake coordinator will verify that you are eligible for services and ask follow up questions as needed. 

What to Expect

When you arrive at our office, you’ll be asked to fill out our New Client Intake Paperwork. (You can also fill this out in advance and email it to [email protected] before your appointment.) Appointment lengths can vary, but you’ll typically meet with either an attorney or a legal staff member for 30 minutes to an hour.

Office Hours

The SLS office is open to the public Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 3:30pm, and Fridays, from 9:00am to 2:00pm, except on University holidays. Our intake hours typically fall between 9:00am and 3:30pm.
